Two northwest Indiana communities experienced significant growth in new single-family home construction during the second quarter of 2013. Our partners at The Times of Northwest Indiana report St. John and Crown Point were among the top 15 locations for new housing starts in a MetroStudy report on the Chicago-area market. St. John comes in fourth and Crown Point is fifth in the rankings.

The study suggests St. John had 202 new home starts, while Crown Point had 198 in the same period. The report predicted the market will “continue in recovery mode,” saying it is likely the Chicago area will see between 4,500 and 5,500 housing starts this year.
