Daniel Bewley ran Bewley’s Tax Service and Forward Motion Tax Service, but was found to have falsely prepared returns from 2011 to 2014.
A complaint was made against Bewley that alleged he understated the amount of income and inflated deductions on thousands of returns. The complaint says Bewley prepared over 1,600 returns over the three-year period, and an Internal Revenue Service investigation of over 200 of the returns, found that 75 percent of them r were falsely reported.
Bewley pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana in August 2017 to one count of wire fraud and one count of filing a false tax return, and was sentenced to nearly three years in prison and ordered to pay $331,000 in restitution.
