Nonprofit to Connect Teens with Summer Jobs

The organization will give nearly 150 Marion County teens the opportunity to earn paychecks working on projects to better the city of Indianapolis.
TeenWorks helps young people develop their workforce skills, connect with the community, and make goals for higher education and career possibilities.
For six weeks starting June 17, teens in the program will work for the following nonprofit organizations:
- Big Car Collaborative – art installations, radio programming, site beautification
- Crossroads Education/Indianapolis Public Schools – peer tutoring
- Indianapolis Cultural Trail – landscaping/site beautification
- Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center – preparing for and supporting events
- Indy Urban Acres – cultivating and harvesting crops
- IU Health – supporting guest services, cleaning and maintenance
- Marian University’s Nina Mason Pulliam EcoLab – landscaping/site beautification
- Pacers Bikeshare – picking up and delivering bicycles, balancing tires
- People for Urban Progress – cleaning and preparing materials for production of goods
- University of Indianapolis – landscaping/site beautification
“Since launching Project Indy in 2016, we have worked to uplift and support the programs that are helping to ensure Marion County teens are learning the skills they need for future success,” said Mayor Joe Hogsett in a news release. “From day one, TeenWorks has been a valued partner in this work, providing high quality soft-skill development and hands-on experiences for Indianapolis youth. I applaud the continued commitment of TeenWorks to our city’s future, as well as the support of nonprofit groups that make this program possible.”
