Construction is underway in Jasper and White counties and the utility expects the solar farms to be online and operating in 2022
Dunns Bridge Solar I is a 265-megawatt facility located in Jasper County. A subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources LLC, a Florida-based developer of renewable energy projects, is leading the project. NIPSCO, which is a subsidiary of NiSource Inc. (NSE: NI) says the project will have 900,000 solar panels and generate power for nearly 80,000 homes.
Construction of the second phase of the project, Dunns Bridge Solar II, will follow and include 1.5 million panels. It should be operational in 2023.
NIPSCO says work is also underway on Indiana Crossroads Solar, a 200 MW solar farm located in White County. The utility partnered with EDP Renewables on the development and construction of the solar farm.
With these two solar projects, two completed wind farms and 10 more renewable projects planned or under construction, NIPSCO will have a total of 14 completed renewable projects by the end of 2023.
