Nickel Plate Express Seeking Input on Arcadia Excursions

Subscribe NowThe Nickel Plate Heritage Railroad Inc. will tonight hold an open house at the Arcadia Heritage Depot. The nonprofit will provide information and receive public comment on the proposed Nickel Plate Express excursions between Arcadia and Atlanta, Indiana, beginning in mid-2018.
According to the Nickel Plate Express website, visitors would be able to travel along the Nickel Plate rail line, visit the historic Arcadia Depot and explore downtown Atlanta.The excursions would also have seasonal-based themes.
The excursions still require approval from the Hoosier Heritage Port Authority. The nonprofit says, if approved, the Arcadia Heritage Depot would also serve as its headquarters.
"The Arcadia Depot has been an icon in this community for more than five decades," said Toni Dickover, president of Nickel Plate Heritage Railroad board. "This new venture is exciting, and we want the community to help us shape its future."
The open house takes place from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the depot, located at 107 W. South Street in Arcadia.
