The attraction says the funding will support infrastructure upgrades for The Virginia B. Fairbanks Art Nature Park. The gifts include $10 million from Lilly Endowment Inc. and $3 million from Newfields trustee Kent Hawryluk.
Other gifts include $500,000 from the Indianapolis Department of Public Works, $100,000 from the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust and $100,000 from Newfields supporter Edgar Fehnel.
Newfields says upgrades will allow for increased capacity at the park as well as seasonal experiences, including Winterlights and the newly-announced Harvest festival. The funding comes on the heels of a $10 million grant from the Richard M. Fairbanks Foundation. Ongoing improvements include bike paths and walking trails, additional parking as well as the creation of an endowment for art and site maintenance.
