The Chicago-area native brings more than two decades of experience in medical education to the program.
Ryan will be the fourth director in the school’s 46 year history when she assumes duties on October 1. She most recently served as vice chair for education in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University. She also held roles at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Loyola University and Chicago Stritch School of Medicine.
“I am excited to be joining IU School of Medicine not just because of the school’s rich history, mission and core values, but also because of the warm, innovative culture I have already witnessed,” Ryan said. “I am also energized by what we can accomplish. As someone who was born and raised in the Chicago area, I am familiar with the unique needs of the Northwest-Gary community, and I feel well prepared to help meet those needs, as well as those of IU School of Medicine staff, faculty and learners.”
Ryan holds a doctorate in education from Loyola University of Chicago.
