Miranda Zapor Cruz has been selected as director of The Sacred Alliance, formerly known as The Center for Women in Ministry.
Cruz succeeds Andrea Summers, who took the job nearly seven months ago when the organization announced its rebranding effort. The Sacred Alliance did not provide a reason for Summers’ departure.
Cruz is also an associate professor of theology at IWU and previously served as an adjunct faculty member at Wesley Seminary. In a news release, she says she envisions The Sacred Alliance becoming a research center for the church.
"I have been following The Sacred Alliance for a while and have been very interested in its work in the areas of equity, justice, and reconciliation," Cruz said. "I look forward to the partnerships that will form as we engage with scholars, pastors, community leaders, and other organizations. I am excited to engage more deeply and systemically with issues about which I care a great deal, including mutuality between men and women, racial reconciliation, and stewardship of the created world."
The organization rebranded under The Sacred Alliance banner in March and also relocated to the IWU campus, saying the move would help expand its reach to a greater audience.
