New Cummins tech chief named

(NYSE: CMI) is retiring after a 36-year career with the company. Cummins says Jim Fier will retire in March and will be succeeded by Jonathan Wood, who currently serves as vice president of new power engineering.
Fier has served as CTO since 2019. He began as a service engineer. Cummins says Fier has led the company’s key initiatives to address the global climate, including its zero emissions strategy.
“I am grateful for Jim’s leadership and friendship and his commitment to delivering on our brand promise to our customers, advocacy in building our global technical capability and advancing our diversity, equity and inclusion work,” said Jennifer Rumsey, president and CEO. “His legacy at Cummins will be felt for many years to come.”
Wood joined Cummins in 1994 as part of the Cummins Turbo Technologies (CTT) Aftermarket and Service team. He’s held numerous executive roles with the company.
Wood, who will begin his new job April 1, will remain based in the United Kingdom.
