New COO Named at IU Health Bloomington Hospital

Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital has named Alan Biggs as chief operating officer. Biggs most recently served as vice president of EMCARE/EMVISION Physician Services and was also chief financial officer and chief Operating officer of Logansport Hospital from 1997-2010. He succeeds Brian Shockney, who now is IU Health’s South Central Region President. 

Biggs will oversee all hospital operations and support regional initiatives along with planning the opening of the new hospital on the east side of Bloomington.  

“My family and I couldn’t be more excited to not only return to Indiana and Bloomington, but also to join such a values driven and progressive organization as IU Health. In my time here already I am very impressed with the knowledge, skill, and compassion I have seen from the team members every day.  I am proud and happy to be a part of that, and look forward to helping IU Health Bloomington and the South Central Region continue to meet and exceed its goals,” Biggs says.

Biggs earned his bachelor’s at IU Bloomington and an MBA from IU Kokomo.
