Yorktown-based Mursix Corp. said Wednesday it has acquired Aul Brothers Tool and Die in Muncie, though financial terms of the deal are not being disclosed.
Mursix manufactures components for the automotive industry, including tier one companies such as BorgWarner and IMMI, as well as the medical and security industries.
Aul Brothers has been in business for more than 80 years, and all of the company’s equipment and employees have relocated to the Mursix headquarters in the Park One business park at I-69 and State Road 332.
The acquisition was finalized in mid-2023. Mursix CEO Todd Murray said in a news release that all of Aul Brothers’ employees are being retained and it expects to double the company’s workforce to 15 by next year.
In all, Mursix now employs just over 200 people. Murray said the Aul Brothers products manufactured going forward will account for about 10% of the company’s sales.
Murray added the growth of Aul Brothers led to the acquisition and builds upon a record year for Mursix.
“We’ve exceeded our sales goals by 200%,” said vice president of business development Susan Murray Carlock. “We had a record year at Mursix. We saw a growth spurt like never before in 2008-2009. We saw a growth spurt from COVID. We’ve proven we can get through tough times and come out stronger.”
The acquisition also received support from several Delaware County officials. County Commissioner James King said he expects more great things to come from the deal.
“Seeing two incredible longstanding locally owned and operated companies in Delaware County like Mursix and Aul Bros. Tool & Die come together is a great thing,” said King. “I’m impressed by their commitment to form this acquisition for the benefit of the whole [and] keeping both their investments and jobs in our community.”
