RDA Chief Executive Officer Bill Hanna says the $34 million effort will relieve traffic in a key corridor and increase the potential for development.
The project will upgrade the intersection of Calumet Avenue and E. 45th St. in Munster. Hanna says it will turn Calumet Avenue into a "primary access route" to two railroad stations and "will be closely-linked to transit-oriented development opportunities within the corridor.
The grant builds on a total of more than $28 million from state and local sources, including the Northern Indiana Regional Planning Commission.
