The funding comes from the Indiana Connectivity Program, which helps internet providers with the expense of extending their services to underserved locations throughout the state.
In the tenth round of funding through the program, 708 addresses will receive broadband access, including 688 households and 20 businesses. The internet service providers are matching the grants with $13.7 million million in funding.
The program, which launched in September 2021, requires homeowners or businesses to apply for better internet connections.
“This round of funding is the largest investment so far and serves more addresses than any previous round of the Indiana Connectivity Program,” OCRA Executive Director Duke Bennett said in a news release. “This is an exciting milestone in the program and in bringing Indiana into the digital age.”
