The Elkhart Truth reports about $5 million has already been invested to renovate and equip the facility to add a new mini corn dog production line.
Chief Executive Officer Karl Schledwitz tells the publication the remaining $15 million will be used to add automation technology and prepare for a potential expansion in 2018. Schledwitz says the company currently has up to 20 job openings and plans to hire an additional 25 by the end of the year.
The Bristol plant primarily produces corn dogs and makes about a million pounds of corn dogs per week, according to Monogram’s website. The company says the new mini corn dog line will make the plant the largest producer of mini corn dogs in the nation.
Schledwitz tells The Truth the goal is to make Bristol the corn dog capitol of the world. Monogram Foods also has facilities in Tennessee, Minnesota, Iowa, Virginia, Wisconsin, Texas and Massachusetts.
