The O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs at IUPUI and the Indiana University Public Policy Institute have named Moira Carlstedt, president of the Indianapolis Neighborhood Housing Partnership, as the 2018 recipient of the John L. Krauss Award for Public Policy Innovation. Carlstedt received the award at the inaugural Champions of Public Policy event Wednesday.

The biennial award recognizes applied research or activities that help Hoosier communities. Recipients of the Krauss Award receive a glass sculpture by a local artist and a $2,500 prize.

“While my name appears on this award, it truly is recognition of my team’s commitment to the community,” Carlstedt said in a news release. “This award reinforces the importance and value of data, and the leadership role INHP plays in the community.”

INHP helps low- and moderate-income families become financially ready to buy a home or get a loan to make repairs to their existing home.

Carlstedt has been with INHP since 1998, using her experience in the private, government, and nonprofit sectors to fulfill INHP’s mission to “increase affordable and sustainable housing opportunities for individuals and families and serve as a catalyst for neighborhood development and revitalization.”
