The grant will help the organization partner with Indianapolis Public Schools and the city to launch Innovation Network Schools within the district.
The Mind Trust has three such incubators. The organization describes Innovation Network Schools as autonomous public schools operating under contract with IPS. It says the schools are "exempt from administrative practices and many state regulations, giving them the autonomy and accountability that are hallmarks of high-performing schools." The first of which, PLA@103, is set to open on the Indianapolis eastside soon.
The Mind Trust has issued four fellowships to pave the way for the three new schools, with plans for nine in the coming years.
