The development, construction and management company purchased the property last month for $6.3 million and Marketing Director Raven Reckley says the college’s decision to close was "news to us."
She adds Milhaus is "disappointed for the students and staff who are affected most" and will be evaluating legal options regarding Harrison’s decision. The plans to build the apartments and a parking structure, Reckley says, will continue, irrespective of the college’s closure. She says the company plans to provide additional details about development at the property on Washington and East streets once plans move further along.
Reckley says the Harrison building will remain and its future is not part of the apartment plans, which were created prior to the college disbanding.
Including Indianapolis where it was headquartered, Harrison College operated 11 campuses in Indiana, Ohio and North Carolina.
