The brewery is investing $1.6 million to renovate a building it says will almost double its production capacity, with plans to create up to 30 full-time jobs.
The building is located at 1215 E. 2nd Street, and Burn ‘Em Brewing said when renovations are complete, it will feature an event center, taproom space, patio and full-scratch kitchen.
The new location will also allow the brewery to expand distribution.
“The city is growing as we continue to see progress in so many arenas throughout Michigan City,” Economic Development Corp. Michigan City Executive Director Clarence Hulse said in written remarks. “Projects like this really highlight how our community has partners and collaborators who will come together to create the lively and eclectic spaces that truly make our community special and unique.”
The brewery is currently located at 718 Freyer Road. Burn ‘Em Brewery co-founder and head brewer Steve Murray said he hopes the new location will be open by the end of the year.
