Michigan City Approves Annex to Attract Company

Subscribe NowThe Michigan City Council has approved an annexation of 147 acres of land to help a Fortune 500 company establish a facility there. But our partners at The Times of Northwest Indiana report the name of the company has not yet been publicly announced.
The publication says the council voted unanimously to annex the property. With that completed, plans for developing the property can go through.
“Don’t give one penny of tax abatement to this mystery company,” resident Tommy Kulavik advised the council, echoing Councilman Paul Przybylinski, D-2nd, from the earlier meeting this month.
The property lies southeast of the city, off Johnson Road, between Interstate 94 and U.S. 20.
