The Posey County business has acquired Northend Gear & Machine Inc, an Ohio company specializing in machining and gear manufacturing. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, however Nix says Northend will operate as an independent division.
Nix operates six production sites across southern Indiana and Ohio. It serves a variety of industries with custom fabrication, including agriculture, heavy industrial and manufacturing.
Nix was founded in 1902 as a blacksmith shop by Charles Nix, the great-great-grandfather of the current fifth-generation principal owners.
“Over five generations, our business has grown and evolved, but our core values have remained the same. We share similar values and culture with the Northend Gear & Machine management team, a key factor in our decision to partner with them,” Matthew Nix, president of Nix Companies.
Nix says it plans to retain all of the staff from Northend.
