The organization said Monday that President and CEO Hank Milius will retire at the end of the year after 21 years in the position.
Milius joined the organization in 2002 when it was known as Comprehensive Mental Health Services.
Meridian said under his leadership, it has grown from three clinics with 200 employees, three medical staff and $20 million in revenue to 1,100 employees with more than 60 medical providers at over 50 clinics and $150 million in revenue.
“Meridian Health has become the ‘whole-person’ health home that our communities and patients know today,” Brent Webster, chairman of the Meridian Health Services Board of Directors, said in a news release. “This is due in large part to Hank’s commitment of making health care easily accessible for all people and treating the whole person at the forefront of medical practice.”
Milius led the rebranding to Meridian Health Services. The organization provides nearly three dozen programs to help improve physical, mental and social well-being, including primary care, suicide prevention and child advocacy.
Meridian said Milius also spearheaded the organization’s efforts to ramp up telehealth services and COVID-19 testing and vaccinations during the pandemic.
Prior to joining Meridian, Milius served as CEO of Northwest Alabama Mental Health and Executive Director of Arthur Center in Missouri.
Meridian Health Services said it has begun a national search for Milius’ successor, though a specific time frame was not provided.
