University officials said in a news release this week that the program is sustainable, but eliminating the program will allow the college to elevate its existing two-year programs.
“While the One-Year MBA historically has attracted talented and dedicated students and remains financially viable,” Mendoza College Dean Martijn Cremers said. “The decision to discontinue the program reflects the College’s focus on the Two-Year MBA as our priority.”
Cremers added that the change comes as a result of an ongoing review of Mendoza’s graduate programs. The college currently offers 10 master’s programs and two doctoral programs in addition to its undergraduate courses and dual-degree studies.
College officials say discontinuing the one-year program will allow its faculty and staff to focus on providing greater opportunities for experiential learning, leadership development, career exploration and personal growth throughout the course of the two-year program.
Cremers said current one-year MBA students will see no change in their program this year. A university spokesperson told Inside INdiana Business that Mendoza enrolled 42 students last year and 36 this year in the sunsetting program.
“The Mendoza faculty and staff remain fully committed to the personal and professional growth of our One-Year MBAs, now and after the graduate,” Cremers said. “They are forever important members of the Notre Dame family.”
