A familiar face to news viewers in Michiana will retire after nearly 40 years. Maureen McFadden says she will finish her career at WNDU in South Bend early next year. She announced the decision this week, saying she would retire once her three sons were out of college. A St. Mary’s College graduate, McFadden began her career as a morning anchor at U93 in South Bend, a radio station she and her husband eventually owned.

During her on-air announcement, McFadden said:

You’ll still see me every night until early spring. I’ve learned so much from the people I have had the pleasure of interviewing and the stories they have shared. That’s been my richest reward. Thank you for your support and kindness. And if you see me in the grocery store or restaurant, don’t hesitate to stop by and say hello. Because it’s more than a slogan: I’ve lived here my entire life, and ‘this is home.’
