Some 250 members representing 150 companies currently use the space, which Jason Tennenhouse describes as a combination of a coffee shop, office park and old garage. He says ultimately, success isn’t about membership numbers, but about spreading creativity throughout the community and creating "something bigger than us."
During an interview last week on a special edition of Inside INdiana Business Television focusing on office culture, Tennenhouse explained his inspiration for the space. He said there’s no precedent for how to design a coworking space, so he drew on ancient nomadic cultures. "They would take their home with them wherever they went and quickly set up a new community. They called this the yurt, right? The house they’d drag with them." Tennenhouse says he likens coworking space users to "the modern day nomad."
Tennenhouse says the mix of members ranges from creative industries like artists and designers to business advisors to small and medium-enterprises. "That mix is really important for our community. It’s an accurate cross-section of what’s happening in Lafayette." You can connect to more about the space by clicking here.
