The school says the funds will support the renovation of the Dr. A.J. Brown Building which will house the soon-to-be created African American Arts Alliance of Indianapolis at Martin University.
The institution says the funds will help with numerous repairs, including a new roof, new windows, and HVAC upgrades.
Martin University expects to open the African American Arts Alliance next year.
“The African American Alliance of Indianapolis at Martin University will attract students throughout the region to come to our city and study the rich culture we have to share,” said Martin University Vice President of Institutional Advancement Kristie Johnson. “This would not have been possible without understanding the importance of the Alliance and financial assistance by the Allen Whitehill Clowes Charitable Foundation.”
The money will also help pay for renovation of office space and new carpeting.
