The organization has appointed Greg Hildebrand as interim executive director while it conducts a search for its next leader.
The MCEDC did not give a reason for Walls’ departure.
Walls was hired as the organization’s president and CEO in December 2020. Prior to her role with the MCEDC, Walls served as the executive director of the Carroll County EDC, a role from which she resigned in August 2020.
“We wish Laura the best in her future endeavors,” said Bill Davis, board chair of the MCEDC. “Please join us in wishing Laura the best, while welcoming Greg to his new role.”
The MCEDC says Hildebrand has worked with the organization for the past three years.
The MCEDC’s board of directors will oversee the executive search over the next few months and expects to name its new CEO by the end of the year.
