An industry-led initiative focusing on promoting Indianapolis' marketing tech sector is set to launch next month. It will debut at an event following the close of this year's ExactTarget Inc. (NYSE: ET) Connections conference. August 19, 2013

News Release

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Marketing technology is one of the fastest growing high-tech business clusters in Indianapolis, with four recent IPOs or acquisitions alone representing 3,100 local jobs and $4.26 billion in market value.

In total, more than 30 marketing tech firms are headquartered in the greater Indianapolis area, and some of their nationally recognized leaders are joining forces with TechPoint to create a marketable identity and showcase the community during a new event called M-TECH: The Marketing Tech Experience, presented by Comcast Business.

M-TECH will be held in conjunction with the last day of ExactTarget Connections – the largest marketing technology user conference of its kind in the U.S., which brings thousands of marketing tech professionals to town every year. M-Tech ticket holders will get to see the Connections conference keynote address by former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, and “Burst Presentations” by marketing and technology leaders from some of the world's most recognized brands.

As ExactTarget's Connections conference closes immediately following the Condoleezza Rice keynote, M-TECH will open with a high-energy, fast-paced expo display of Indy's cutting edge marketing tech scene. Thought leaders will present ideas and predict the cluster's future on the Insights Stage, while innovative marketing tech software will be previewed on the Demo Stage. M-TECH will feature sessions on the Convergence of the chief information officer and the chief marketing officer, and a marketing tech outlook panel with leaders from some of the aforementioned IPOs and acquisitions.

The event will culminate with a presentation launching Indy's new marketing tech initiative, which is being developed by tech community leaders with support from TechPoint as a catalyst for more growth. According to TechPoint President and CEO Mike Langellier, the state's technology initiative has narrowed its focus and assembled resources behind having a greater impact on emerging high-growth sectors like health information tech and marketing tech.

“This is our time and we're staking our claim,” said Scott Hill, Executive Chairman of CIK Enterprises. “This community is overflowing with marketing tech talent and innovation and with TechPoint’s help we're unifying behind a singular, marketable identity that demonstrates to the world that Indy is marketing tech's capital.”

ExactTarget CMO Tim Kopp said having M-TECH in conjunction with ExactTarget Connections is “perfectly timed” because close to 6,000 of the world's forward-thinking marketers – including early marketing tech adopters – will already be in Indianapolis. Some of the world’s leading brands, like WPP, Deloitte Digital, HP and OpenText, will be part of this group. “Exposing our customers to the diversity of complementary marketing tech firms here adds value to their trip, and acquainting customers to fellow Indy-based tech firms is a tenet of our ecosystem, and part of what makes Indy the place to be for marketing tech.”

Doug Karr, founder of The Marketing Tech Blog, and president and CEO of DK New Media is excited about M-Tech and plans to share news and information about it with his 100,000 global subscribers. “There has been a lot of interest in creating a marketing tech specific event like this for some time,” Karr said. “Bravo, to the handful of leaders who collaborated with TechPoint to make it happen and for being bold and unapologetic about Indy being the center of marketing tech.”

TechPoint's M-TECH: The Marketing Tech Experience presented by Comcast Business will be held at the JW Marriott in downtown Indianapolis on Thursday, Sept. 19. Registration is now open and $89 early-bird discount tickets are available until August 31. Visit the website www.mtechindy.com for more information.
