Collective Alternative has created a weekly live webinar that allows the local business community to come together to support each other by brainstorming marketing ideas.
“This is a difficult time for small businesses, and they have difficult decisions ahead of them. We hope this tool will help give them some ideas, some direction as it pertains to their marketing,” said Amanda Parker, Collective Alternative owner.
Parker says the webinar is interactive allowing small business owners to brainstorm and share ideas with other owners who are also struggling with lost revenue due to the healthcare crisis. She says the weekly conversations help to create possible solutions in real time to provide insight and actionable takeaways.
Parker says a topic in the initial call held last week had little to do with marketing, but more about how employers can keep their staff, keep them paid and how to retain people if the small company needs to lay them off for a couple of weeks.
“Although my expertise is in marketing, I am a small business owner. So, I certainly feel that pain point. And it’s something that is very close to home for me as I pride myself in taking care of my team and treating them the right way,” said Parker. “It’s just something that we were able to brainstorm and kick around different ideas together.”
During the first call, a variety of businesses were represented including a home remodeler, a heating and cooling company, a direct mail marketer, even a local funeral home. All have concerns about the immediate and long-term future of their companies.
“There is a good degree of fear there. But what came from the call was the general consensus among all of us was as small business owners, we are gutsy. We went out to start a business for ourselves. We are determined. We are fighters,” said Parker.
The free virtual #loveofsmallbiz webinar discussions are held every Thursday at 11:00 a.m. EST through the end of April.
Parker says pre-registration is not required, but there is a limit of 250 participants.
