Tucker previously served as dean of academics for the college, a position she was appointed to in January.
“We are fortunate to have Dr. Tucker’s extensive experience in academics, student support, and community partnerships leading our northern Indiana campus,” Chancellor and Chief Operating Officer Kenith Britt said in a news release. “Through her outstanding leadership, we are confident in her ability to elevate recruitment and provide an unrivaled experience for students in the region.”
Ancilla College’s current senior administrator, Chancellor Joseph Heidt, will return to the Indianapolis campus to serve in a new role as executive director of vibrant school partnerships. In the new position, Heidt will develop a new program working with K-12 schools, offering student support and literacy services. He begins Aug. 1.
“We are thankful to Joseph Heidt for leading the mission collaboration with the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ to launch Marian University’s Ancilla College and look forward to his new statewide senior leadership role at the Center for Vibrant Schools,” Britt said.
At Ancilla College, Tucker will work with the university provost to guide academic programs, intercollegiate athletics and extracurricular programs.
Before she was named dean of academics, Tucker led the college’s agriculture department and holds undergraduate, master’s and doctoral degrees from Purdue University where she studied agriculture and American history. She served as a Purdue Extension director and 4-H youth development educator for more than seven year before joining Marian University.
“It is an exciting time at Marian University’s Ancilla College, and I am very grateful to serve in this new role that will allow me to be more involved in the community and make a direct impact on all aspects and functions of our beautiful campus,” Tucker said. “With a continued focus on offering high-quality education and wraparound support for students, we are positioned to recruit, educate, and graduate more leaders who will help our communities thrive.”
