The university said the initiative will give all new full-time students pursuing an education degree a 50% discount on tuition at its campus in Indianapolis and at Marian University’s Ancilla College in Plymouth.
The Educators for Tomorrow scholarship program will begin in the fall 2024 and will be automatically applied each year to eligible students.
To be eligible, students must be admitted to a four-year program at the Fred S. Klipsch Educators College, have at least a 3.5 GPA at the time of acceptance as well as declare and maintain their education major throughout their time at the college.
“Our strategic mission at the Fred S. Klipsch Educators College is to encourage and prepare more students – especially those in underrepresented populations – to pursue teaching careers,” LaTonya Turner, dean of the Klipsch Educators College, said in a news release. “We are keenly aware higher education affordability may be a barrier for some students. That’s why I am excited Marian is taking yet another step toward making higher education more accessible for aspiring educators and encouraging them to pursue teaching careers.”
Full-time student tuition at Marian is $39,100 a year, not including room and board.
