The guard says the partnership with the university’s Fred S. Klipsch Educators College is bridging an educational gap to create more warrant officers.
Marian says warrant officers are required to either achieve a certain number of college credits or receive a specific score on the TABE standardized test. The university says through the partnership, soldiers can receive college readiness classes in math, language and reading, and take a post-test to verify their work.
“Marian University is honored to provide yet another opportunity to assist the state of Indiana and its Army National Guard in filling critical leadership positions through Project Build,” Marian President Dan Elsener said in a news release. “We look forward to building upon our relationships in the community to offer diverse groups of adults the educational and career training opportunities they need to improve their skills and advance their careers.”
Marian says just two months into the partnership, 11 soldiers achieved the necessary educational requirements to apply for the warrant officer position.
