In a notice to the state, TBK America Inc. said the closure will result in the layoffs of 79 employees beginning next month.

TBK America is the U.S. subsidiary of TBK Group, headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. The Richmond facility is the only one located in the U.S., according to the company’s website.
According to Conexus Indiana, the facility opened in 2002 to manufacture water pumps primarily for semi-trucks and other vehicles. In 2017, the company invested $1.8 million to expand operations to produce lube pumps.
According to the WARN notice filed with the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, the majority of the layoffs are set to begin Sept. 30, with more coming on Nov. 30.
The affected workers are not represented by a union and do not have bumping rights. The company said it is providing separation benefits, including COBRA benefits, though more details were not provided.
