Our partners at The Times of Northwest Indiana report the project will result in about 55 construction jobs and a handful of permanent positions.
ITR says its new facility will be behind its existing operation in the NorthWind Crossings Business Park. The company will assemble track frames at the plant. ITR makes parts for loaders, excavators, bulldozers and other machinery for companies including Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE: CAT), Deere & Co. (NYSE: DE) and Volvo.
Hobart Director of Development Denarie Kane tells The Times of Northwest Indiana, in addition to the 55 construction jobs, ITR plans to add eight corporate positions as part of the project. The manufacturer is seeking a 10-year real estate and personal property tax abatement for the expansion. Final approval could come in early May.
Late last year, Merrillville-based Albanese Confectionery Group Inc. announced a $33 million expansion in Hobart, including plans for 150 new jobs. Hobart was also featured in our latest INPower e-newsletter for its push to become northwest Indiana’s "green community."
