Manchester Planning New Home For Business College

The university will break ground in mid-May on the $8.5 million Augustus and Lockie Chinworth Center, which is expected to open in 2019.
The facility will add 36,000 square feet of space for student learning and services, according to the university. In addition to housing the College of Business, the center will also become home to the university’s registrar and student financial services, as well as a commuter lounge, coffee bar, and offices for study abroad, honors, student activities, and other programs.
Manchester alumnus Herb Chinworth donated more than $5 million in 2014 toward the construction of the facility, which is being named in honor of his parents. The university says it has raised $6.5 million toward the project to date.
The project comes in addition to the construction of the $1 million Jean Childs Young Intercultural Center, work for which began last month following a $250,000 donation from Toyota Motor Corp. (NYSE: TM). The university says, to date, it has raised $780,000 for that project.
