The university says the partnership will provide access to GenXys’ expertise and proprietary algorithms to help expand its medication research and review capabilities.
GenXys specializes in precision prescribing software with embedded pharmacogenetic (PGx) data. Pharmacogenomics is an emerging science that uses genetic markers to customize and optimize individual medication therapy.
The partners say the union will drive recognition of PGx-informed prescribing decisions on a global scale, and ultimately support expanded use of PGx.
Manchester says the partnership will also further its students’ learning about evidence-based precision prescribing options for patients.
Manchester offers on-campus and online master’s degree programs in PGx, and a dual degree in pharmacy and pharmacogenomics, as well as a graduate certificate in PGx.
The pharmacogenomics program is based at Manchester’s Fort Wayne campus.
