Allen Machielson has been named dean of student experience, a new position at Manchester University.
The Huntington-area resident had been associate dean of student development and director of residence life.
In his new leadership role, which is effective immediately, Machielson will oversee the Student Experience Center, which is designed to support personal, academic and co-curricular learning opportunities for students. This includes the following areas: Multicultural Affairs, religious life, residential life, student activities, commuter services, student conduct, Campus Safety and wellness services.
Machielson has served in a variety of key roles at Manchester, beginning in 2007, including leading the residential life program and serving as interim campus pastor. He has been a member of the SuccessNet and counseling teams and, most recently, supervised Campus Safety services.
He brings 20 years of experience in higher education leadership with special emphasis on co-curricular learning. He completed his undergraduate degree from Calvin College and holds a master’s degree in education from Sacred Heart University.
“Allen will provide the vision, leadership and management of our University-wide efforts to enhance the student experience,” said Tim McElwee, vice president for academic resources.
