Management Team Named For Hammond Sportsplex

Mayor Tom McDermott has named James Taillon general manager and Kymberli Roberts has been introduced as assistant general manager basketball/volleyball.
Hammond-native Taillon graduated from Morton High School and played two years of baseball at Vincennes University. He was vice president of marketing for Arkansas Sports Entertainment with the Arkansas Riverblades hockey team and Arkansas Twisters Arena II team. He also served as marketing manager for the state of Arkansas for Red Bull North America. “I look forward to supporting athletes in the region and hope to provide a state-of-the- art facility for them to train and compete", said Taillon.
Roberts is also a Hammond native, who graduated from IU Northwest in 2013. She is currently a corrections officer with the Hammond Police Department. Roberts has coached various high school basketball and volleyball teams since 2012. She currently also serves as varsity volleyball coach and assistant varsity coach for girls basketball at Griffith High School. “I look forward to using my knowledge and experience as both a player and a coach as we develop the Sportsplex into a first class facility", Roberts said.
The new 135,000 square foot Sportsplex will include six basketball courts, 12 courts for volleyball, two soccer fields, six indoor batting cages and an upper level track. The space will also offer a community room to host events, concession area, offices and restrooms.
