Fowler-based Tribune Showprint has relocated to the makerspace while Muncie-based The Guardian Brewing Co. plans to move in later this year.
Tribune, which has been in business since the 1870s, was purchased by Kim Miller and her husband earlier this year. The company makes made-to-order posters for various types of events, using flatbed presses. Miller says she looks forward to being part of the Muncie community.
"We wanted to be in this space because of the sense of community," said Miller. "We wanted the culture of people who are like-minded and people who are making things. We want to be here printing. It’s not every day that people get to see this, it’s a piece of history, really. The makerspace is just perfect for everything we wanted."
The Guardian Brewing Co. opened in 2015 and hopes to expand its craft beer selection with the move to Madjax. Owner Bill Kerr says, "The space makes a lot of sense infrastructure-wise for us. We need a lot of power, and this space has it."
The brewery says it will remain open at its current location in Muncie until the move.
Last week, Madjax unveiled its new name and branding. The makerspace, previously known as Gearbox: Muncie – A Maker Hub, opened in November in the former Cintas building.
