Life Choices Clinic will use the funds to establish a new staff position to use an adverse-childhood-experiences scoring assessment to better provide services and referrals to clients who have experienced such trauma, the foundation said. The grant is expected to help fund the position over the next three years.
“We know that many adults in Jefferson County have more Adverse Childhood Experiences than the national average and that these experiences can negatively impact the health and well-being of the individual and their family,” CEO Dora Anim said in a news release. “We are thrilled to support Life Choices as they connect their clients with resources based on their ACEs score, to help them heal from the root causes of their trauma and build resiliency.”
The not-for-profit Life Choices Clinic plans to integrate ACEs screening into its client services to provide more tailored interventions, the foundation said. Staff also will receive training to better understand and respond to the impacts of such trauma.
Bethany Legacy Foundation is a not-for-profit health foundation established through the sale of King’s Daughters Health to Norton Healthcare.
