Subscribe NowThe announcement last summer that Taylor Swift is coming to Indianapolis for the second leg of her record-breaking The Eras Tour is the beginning of what is now the largest single-year concert schedule at Lucas Oil Stadium in downtown Indianapolis.
Stadium Director Eric Neuburger said the more recent announcement that Pink will make a stop in Indy next October, for which tickets went on sale Monday, was another big get for the stadium.
“Having Pink come back to Indianapolis is really what we’ve been after and really complements all the concerts we put together for a great 2024,” Neuburger said.
In August, it was announced that Swift would perform three shows at Lucas Oil Stadium on Nov. 1-3. The first leg of The Eras Tour became the highest-grossing tour of all time, bringing in more than $1 billion with 4.3 million tickets sold, according to concert trade publication Pollstar.
The Indy shows are expected to be a major economic driver for the city, with hotels and other businesses already making plans. Visit Indy Senior Vice President Chris Gahl told our partners at the IBJ that discussions are being made to determine plans for special spaces near the stadium similar to what has been done in the past with the Super Bowl and the College Football Playoff National Championship.
“We have aspirations to make it more than a concert,” Gahl said. “We want to create events and activities around the stadium and the city that won’t officially be part of the tour but will play into the excitement of welcoming [Swift] and her fans.”
Just over a month after the announcement of the Swift concerts, country music legend George Straight and Chris Stapleton announced an extension of their stadium tour, which will kick off May 4 at Lucas Oil.
Another country star, Morgan Wallen, announced shortly after that he was bringing his “One Night at a Time” tour to Lucas Oil for two shows in April 2024.
Pink, who performed before a sellout crowd at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in early November, announced less than a month later that she would return to Indy with her Summer Carnival Stadium Tour in October.
“We’re having seven concerts in 2024 at Lucas Oil Stadium. In over the 15-year life of Lucas Oil Stadium, we’ve had 10 thus far,” said Neuburger. “We’re really looking forward to putting this extra effort into bringing these shows to Indianapolis. We’ve really showed, through Big 10 and other events in town that we know how to put on big events, and we really want to make these community-wide.”
