The 13th annual Indiana Logistics Summit will feature discussions and events relating to agriculture, academia, emerging technologies and government. This year’s featured speaker lineup includes Fair Oaks Farms LLC Chief Executive Officer Michael McCloskey, Google Inc. Head of Industry Ben Arnon and NASA Langley Research Center Associate Director Frank Jones. During an Interview on Inside INdiana Business Television, Ports of Indiana Chief Executive Officer Rich Cooper, a co-organizer of the event, said the range of topics covered continues to grow.
He says it will cover traditional and non-traditional (like "drone" technology and sports) subjects relating to the industry.
Other speakers include: U.S. Representative Luke Messer (R-6), Hulman & Co. CEO Mark Miles, Indianapolis Colts Chief Operating Officer Pete Ward, Indiana State University Center for Unmanned Systems Director Richard Baker, GE Aviation Lafayette Plant Leader Eric Matteson and many more.
Indiana ranks among the top 10 in more than 100 logistics categories and is number one in "pass-through" interstate highway. The event will highlight advances and issues facing road, rail, air and water transit, as well as the technology that makes it work.
During the interview on Inside INdiana Business, Rich Cooper also discussed the challenge of keeping last year’s record-breaking state port activity going. He expects business volume at the Ports of Burns Harbor, Mt. Vernon and Jeffersonville to be 30 percent higher than last year by the conclusion of the 2015 shipping season. The Ports of Indiana estimates the three ports have a more than $6 billion economic impact on the state annually.
