Logistics, Flower Companies Requesting Tax Breaks

Plans involving Florida-based Venture Logistics LLC and McNamara Florist, currently based in Fishers, could result in nearly 50 new jobs in the coming years.
Hanna Avenue Real Estate LLC and Venture Rail Warehouse and Distribution LLC say Venture Logistics’ proposed $14 million investment would involve a 400,000 square-foot facility on a lot on the south side of the city. The more than 46-acre property currently includes a small trucking business and three homes. In filings with the Metropolitan Development Commission, Venture says the project is expected to be complete by the end of 2017 and will include nearly three dozen new jobs.
Far Mar Real Estate LLC, which is McNamara Florist’s real estate holding company, is moving forward with growth plans announced in March for the central Indiana floral retailer. The company is looking to pump $2.2 million into improvements to a vacant, more than 100,000 square-foot Indianapolis facility, which previously housed an air distribution products manufacturer. McNamara currently leases space in Fishers for its headquarters and production facility. McNamara has seven retail locations in central Indiana and a greenhouse and retail shop in Fort Wayne. McNamara plans to relocate 48 employees from its current Fishers headquarters to the new facility and add nearly a dozen workers by 2020.
The commission is set to consider preliminary tax abatement approvals for the companies Wednesday and final approvals could come as early as November 4.
