Bay Logistics recently purchased and renovated a 190,000-square-foot facility along U.S. 20 for use as a trucking terminal, maintenance facility and public distribution center.
The company is partnering with Martin Transportation Systems and has invested between $5-$6 million in the purchase and renovation of its new facility.
The building has undergone an “extensive” makeover, Bay Logistics leadership says, with new paint, HVAC equipment, LED lighting and more.
Bay Logistics provides transportation, warehousing and logistics services in Michigan, Indiana, Arizona and Mexico.
“Bay Logistics has a long history of serving the transportation and warehousing industries with its offerings,” Michigan City Mayor Duane Parry said in a news release. “We are honored that the team has added another spot here in Michigan City as part of the company’s extensive portfolio. Our business landscape and connectivity to Michigan and Chicago continue to pave our way toward more momentum and additional growth.”
The company operates from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday with 10 employees working in its new Michigan City distribution center.
Bay Logistics and its sister company Martin Transportation Systems — which operates a fleet of more than 1,2000 tractors and over 3,000 trailers — are now looking to hire truck drivers and mechanics.
