Lifeline Data Centers acquired the old Eastgate Consumer Mall in 2008 for $23 million and has since developed the property into a colocation and data storage hub. The company is now building out a flagship data location in Fort Wayne. In an interview on Inside INdiana Business Television, Lifeline owner Alex Carroll said growth is being fueled by demand for data center locations in the Midwest, including from Silicon Valley companies who like what they see in Indy.
"(Fort Wayne is) just a good strategic location for us," said Carroll. "It’s 100 miles away and has great fiber connectivity and getting more built into it," said Carroll.
Lifeline recently announced it has achieved FedRAMP-Ready status, a designation allows the company to host highly sensitive data, all the way up to top secret information, for government agencies and private corporations. "It’s the most secure methodology of hosting data," said Carroll, who adds it puts the company in an elite category. "In the space we play in, there are maybe six to ten in the entire country," said Carroll.
In addition to the Eastgate location and future facility in Fort Wayne, Lifeline operates a Henry Street facility on the near west side of downtown Indianapolis.
