A $5 million hotel expansion project in Tippecanoe County is complete. The additions to the Courtyard by Marriott in Lafayette include a 5,500 square-foot conference center and nearly three dozen new guest rooms.

Officials say the new convention center has room for up to 300 guests for indoor and outdoor events. The full scope of the work involves a new patio, bridal suite and conference center with meeting space, audio-visual systems and custom lighting.

General Manager Devry Butcher says "this opens up a whole world of options for businesses and individuals planning meetings and social events including weddings and quinceaneras in Lafayette. Now the Courtyard Lafayette will be able to provide our outstanding services and amenities to groups and event planners who are looking for modern, updated facilities located right in the community."

The hotel opened in 2009.
