While details of the company’s investment were not disclosed, Labcorp said the facility will increase its global molecular bioanalytical capacity.
Labcorp provides diagnostic testing and drug development services for hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, and researchers.
The company said in a news release that the expanded Greenfield facility will support the development and validation of preclinical and clinical molecular bioanalytical tests required for advanced therapies such as cell and gene therapies for oncology, rare disease and other therapeutic areas.
A spokesperson told Inside INdiana Business that the expansion will double the size of the facility to approximately 40,000 square feet.
“This expansion underscores our broader strategy of investing in capabilities that reduce lead times for molecular bioanalysis and reinforces our commitment to accelerating the development of advanced therapies, including cell and gene therapies, for patient populations in critical need,” Megan Bailey, president of central laboratory services and international for Labcorp, said in the release.
The spokesperson added that the project will more than double the workforce at the facility, depending on demand. However, the company did not say how many people currently work at the Greenfield location.
In addition to Greenfield, Labcorp has molecular bioanalytical facilities in Harrogate, United Kingdom, and Shanghai, China.
