Krieg DeVault LLP has named Tom Kmiecik chief operating officer. He will focus his efforts on overseeing the day-to-day operations of the firm’s seven offices, spanning four states, as well as identifying growth opportunities for the firm.

Kmiecik previously served as chief administrative officer of a regional Louisville-based law firm. His responsibilities included directly managing all aspects of the firm’s finance, marketing, administration, technology, human resources, risk management and facilities departments. Prior to entering the legal industry, Kmiecik served as executive vice president and chief financial officer of HDG Mansur Capital Group in Indianapolis. He has experience providing accounting and financial leadership to several publicly-traded real estate investment companies, raising in excess of $1.7B in the capital markets through public equity and debt offerings.

Throughout his career, Kmiecik has been involved in numerous community and business organizations. His affiliations include the National Association of Corporate Directors (Governance Fellow); American Junior Golf Association – Braselton, GA (Board Member and Treasurer); Louisville Ballet Co. – Louisville, KY (Board Member and Treasurer and Finance Committee Chair); Goodwill Industries of Kentucky (Board Member and Audit Committee Member); Downtown Economic Development Corp – Cleveland, OH (Board Member and Finance Committee Chair);  Financial Executives International – Louisville, KY Chapter; National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts; National Investor Relations Institute – Cleveland, OH Chapter; American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Kmiecik is a certified public accountant and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting and Finance (magna cum laude) from Baldwin-Wallace College (Berea, OH). Additionally, he has earned his White Belt in Legal Lean Sigma and Project Management.
