Komets General Manager David Franke says the team is making the move because it wants "more roster control and flexibility."
The teams say they are ending the agreement in an amicable fashion. Franke says the Komets understand the Avalanche’s need to develop players. The team adds that it remains open to working agreements with NHL or American Hockey League clubs.
