CMF says the customer’s decision has led to the loss of "a significant amount of business." The layoffs went into effect September 26. The company says the affected employees are not represented by a union and do not have any bumping rights.
"Should the Company experience sufficiently increased business in the future, these employees may be considered for rehire," said Mel Rachal, chief executive officer of Cardinal Metal Finishing. "At the present time, however, the Company cannot determine when it may recall any workers."
According to its website, Cardinal Metal Finishing specializes in industrial finishing and machining of billet metals, castings, and forged parts. The company also has a facility in Bloomington.
