(Nasdaq: KBAL) has opened its renovated corporate headquarters. The 52,000-square-foot office houses 180 employees.
The company says when it began the process in 2017, corporate leaders wanted to re-think what an office setting should look and feel like. The furniture maker says it wanted to create environments that fuel efficiency and attract and retain top talent.
At the center of the makeover is the “Heartwood Hub,” a common space for employees to gather and relax. Designers added a fitness studio and café. It also includes communal meeting spaces, lounge areas and private “huddle” rooms, which can be used for a “quiet enclave for heads-down work.”
“Our workplace reflects what our brand stands for, and that we are doing for ourselves what we do for our customers — creating environments for the future with forward-thinking concepts in product, place, and people,” said Wendy Murray, Kimball’s director of marketing and products.
Kimball says it has registered the corporate headquarters to be WELL certified, meaning it meets or exceeds standards of creating an environment that impact human health and wellbeing, through air, water, nourishment, light, fitness, comfort, and mind.
“Earning WELL Certification for our headquarters reinforces that we’re putting our people first and establishing a workplace that will lead to improvements in employee productivity, engagement, and retention,” said Murray.
Murray says the Heartwood Hub serves as an epicenter of the business, a space that serves as a working showroom and as a place for employees and customers to “recharge and refuel.”
